Schmedt Farms is a joint farming venture, primarily of brothers Fred Schmedt and Wayne Schmedt. Other extended family members, including Michael Schmedt, also participate. Properties are located in Carter, Cotton, Jackson and Tillman counties in Oklahoma and San Patricio County in Texas. We are not large farmers by today's standards but we are intensely loyal to our heritage in agriculture. We represent the fourth and fifth generations of our families to farm continuously on properties owned in Jackson county Oklahoma. The Hugh Minor farm, homesteaded by our maternal great-grandfather in 1891, has been owned and operated continuously since that date by our family. The W.F. Schmedt farm near Mathis, Texas, while currently rented, has been in continuous family ownership since 1911. The Theo Alexander home place has been farmed continuously since 1913 and owned since 1915 by family members. Our views on land tenure are summed up by the Native American belief: "This land belongs to our family. Some of them are gone now, but most have not been born yet."
